When will Banks Start Sukanya Samriddhi Scheme?

As per government notification on Sukanya Samriddhi Scheme, account under this scheme can be opened in any Post office branch, and designated banks.

It has been over 2 years since the launch of Sukanya Samriddhi Scheme, and all the authorized banks are yet to start operating the scheme. However almost all postal branches have began operating the scheme. Provided below is a list of the authorized banks, along with links to the banks that have began operating the scheme.

Reserve Bank of India on 11th March 2015, RBI sent a circular to the head of the 28 designated commercial banks, including three private sector banks, spelling out the operational guidelines of the Sukanya scheme.

RBI has instructed these banks to approach Central Account Section, Reserve Bank of India, Nagpur for necessary arrangements to report Sukanya Samriddhi Account transactions with immediate effect.

    Is there any provision to open the ssy account in the name of same girl Child in two different banks.

    • Hi Mohd Ibrahim,

      No. Only 1 account can be opened for 1 girl child under this scheme. Opening two accounts for 1 girl child in same or different banks is against the rules.

    Hi, My daughter age is 9 years, If she got marriage at the age of 21
    years & Policy age is 12 years, this policy is collapse???

      No. Once your daughter is married, she will have the option of continuing or closing the policy. She can choose to continue it uptil 21 years.

    Hello ..currently i am having an SSY account for my daughter in post office. i am a NRI..its really difficult for me to make the payment by cash in the post office. SO that is it possible for me to transfer the account from post office to SBI or BOB banks…Then i will be able to deposit via online payment…kindly advice. i have started SSY in 2015

      1. Many post office branches have core banking implemented, and online deposit is possible with them. Check with your branch.
      2. Yes account transfer is easily possible. You will need to submit application at post office, give them detail of where to transfer account. They will send iver papeework to your chosen bank. Transfer fees is Rs 100/-
